Having No Deer movement in the location I normally use I decided to mix it up and relocate a hang on stand I have into a location that is just on the outskirts of thick bedding cover. The tree I picked is a great tree and I see me using it next season for sure. Its tucked away inside a shallow "U" area and gives me a great 18-30 yard shooting opportunity if a deer comes through.

Here is a view of the shooting area.

This shows the tree with some cover built in and cant be maintained if I were using a climber

Had a nanny doe and her yearling come through at 5:15 I was pumped up. Took a while for the nanny to come into my range but 10 minutes later I had a broadside shot and let my Hoyt EAT!!!

Tracking took LONG on this deer but I Just knew she was dead at how much blood I was finding.

I clocked the distance she ran from the shot and it was 100 yards exactly!

She smacked this tree and slid into HOME PLATE!

I don't drag deer out of my this area after pulling my back badly on one last year. Gutted and Fit into my Mystery Ranch Crew Cab makes easier work walking the deer out.

That was super fun and put another deer in my freezer! Love it when you plan and the outcome is successful.

Congrats and thanks for posting the story and pictures! We have several members here interested in hunting but with no experience in the field dressing and butchering/processing. Can you show pictures or give a narrative of how you do it?

I don't have any pictures of me doing that. YouTube has tons of stuff. I'm still not where I want to be when it comes to getting the intestines out through the pelvis easy.

I break down all the muscle groups and freeze those whole. I prefer to roast the whole muscle instead of smaller stew pieces. Much easier for me anyways.

The front shoulder ill try and get 2 bone in roasts out if it. Braised it is supposed to be great so we shall see!'

Congratulations! I got a doe last week actually. Obvious question, what knife did all the work?

Getting hit hard with Blue tongue here...........Finding lots of dead deer. ....4 in one corn field...........The hunting preserve hext to me lost 20 deer.....None on my place yet.............Youth hunt here this weekend....Grandson will be hunting for his first............carl

I used this knife. It's the second deer I've broken down with it. Simply doe is all super easy and stays sharp.

It's my "L.O.Y.S." pattern. "Luck on your side"

I'm using Muzzy 3 blade fixed blade heads. They have killed 3 deer so far. I have shot at 4 deer total and missed 1. Good track record I'd say.

Congratulations! If I told my dad that you were using a Hoyt and a Muzzy, then he'd probably drive over and talk with forever about both of them. He absolutely loves Hoyt and Muzzy.
