Does 80CRv2 take a hamon?

I got the impression it would not, but someone mentioned yesterday it took a wonderful hamon. It so, that just makes this steel just about perfect.
 
In my limited experiance, not as good as 1095, but it does produce a hamon that would look good if someone other than me was the one doing it. With a clayed spine, I did get a distinct line, but my sanding/etching/polishing skill was not up to snuff.
 
I've tried, even with 1/4" stock, and almost nothing. Less potential than 1084.
