Does a blade coating making a big difference in regard to corrosion resistance?

One of the knives (in AUS8) I'm considering comes with a few difference finishes. Aesthetically, I like the satin finish, but I'm always a bit worried about rust (hot and humid around here right now). I also have the option of a black TiNi finish, but I don't like the way it looks as much as I do the satin finish. Would the TiNi coating make enough of a difference to warrant getting it instead?

Keep the knife clean and wiped down, you won't have any problem with rust. I live on the coast and AUS8 holds up pretty well. It might get a little discolored but nothing to worry over.

satin finishes generally fairly rust restiant compared to bead blast, I'd say if you keep it cleaned and oiled, just go with whichever design you like the best

Get yourself the blade finish you like, along with some Marine Tuf-Cloth or if used for food, some Fluid Film. Rust won't be an issue.

well, the coating will prevent moisture from contacting any part of the blade except the edge.

so, yes, it makes a huge difference, especially on a non-stainless or carbon steel.

sometimes even if you take care of your gear it can develop rust. but as long as you catch it early enough, a little oil or wd40 will solve the problem.

Coating on AUS8? Well, I suppose it might improve the performance if you were intending to put it in a salt fog chamber for a few months. But it's hardly necessary in actual use. AUS8 is pretty corrosion resistant as stainless cutlery steels go. I'd go with the nekkid steel especially as you don't care for the appearance of the Titanium Nitride coating.

It's pretty much always humid here where I am, but I have yet to see any rust on an AUS8 blade. In fact, the only stainless steel I've seen rust (without intentional abuse or complete negligence) was my first Kershaw Skyline in 13C26.

So get whatever finish you like best.

I personally would definately go without the coating if you like the satin finish look better. AUS 8 is pretty darn corrosion resistant so unless you're doing something extreme like diving with it I wouldn't worry about getting the coating. Some people like the look that coatings get after a short while but I would much rather have a satin finish so it doesn't scratch as bad.
