Does a double cut finish rust?

It can, its more porous than a satin finish do to the process it gets that way. I have rarely had rust issues with INFI of any kind though, and i've left naked INFI outside overnight before, double cut is SLIGHTLY more prone, but nothing id worry too much about. I've had a few spots here and there, but the worst was after chopping up a watermelon with an NMFBM and leaving the juice on it while I went out.

All forms of iron rust. All of 'em.

Some are just more resistant.

I blame Oxygen ... that little devil.

not for me, i have a dc fillet knife in my kitchen, an old busse, and i run it through the dish washer, slice all the nasty things with it, onions, apples, limes, lemons and it is as the day i put into service.

but, i'm sure if i were to toss it into the bottom of my tackle box and leave it for a year it would probably get rust spots.

I don't think the DC fillet knife is made out of infini. I think it is D2.

The double cut process has never created a "rust issue" for me .... I don't have any concerns over this finish at all on that count .... and I use it a lot to refurb my users ...

They're not INFI, but they are Double Cut, and that is the subject of the thread. :)

D2 they are. but, D2 does rust if not looked after.

Remember all, its called stainLESS for a reason. :D

Just curious if a double cut finish on a knife blade will rust?

You have to work real hard at it, but yes, you can get it to rust :D

EDC while working in humid weather, acidic personality :p, and tossing it in the box at the end of the day.

I think of it like the "parkerized" finish on Remington Express shotguns.

Those little pores are great at holding CLP or RemOil or Tuf Glide.

Wipe that sucker down once in a while, and it excels at rust resistance BECAUSE OF the pores.

Oh, and I consider D2 and INFI in that strange category of semi-stainless. They resist but aren't rust-proof.
