Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a good fixed knife with this features:

fighting / combat blade and guard
G-10 /Kraton black handle
shiny silver blade 6 or 7 inches
price range around 150 200$

I already have a Cold Steel Tanto and a SOG Desert Dagger
I need a knife that suits well in my little collection with the above features

examples of knives that I like but do not meet all my requirements

wrong handle material and non shiny blade finish

As you can see all knives that I like have the same problem :)

I hope your knowledge will help me

Thanks
David

If you contact anyone of those makers I'm sure they can make a knife that suits you needs.

Actually, the top knife in the bottom photo (a Simonich Raven I believe) does have a G10 grip. By shiny silver do you mean high polished?

You list knives with micarta handles as not meeting your criteria. Is there a reason why G10 works and micarta does not, or is it simply a matter of aesthetics. If kraton is your preferred handle material, I would say that in your price range, your best choice would be to buy a Cold Steel knife and just polish off the finish on the blade.

Good luck,
B.

Wow, Walking Man, that's a TON of knife for that price!

Garageboy,
Sorry, I didn't notice you'd brought up the micarta issue.

Delghi,
WM's link has a bunch of promising knives. The CS UWK has a kraton handle and a black coated 6 1/2 inch blade for under $60. For what it would cost you in time, supplies and effort to remove the coating and repolish the blade, I think you'd still be coming out under budget. Even if you bought 2 of them.

thanks for your help

that's nothing wrong with micarta handles but i need a similar to the desert dagger and cold steel tanto

as you can see they both have kraton handle and silver shiny blade, metal guard and pommel/skull crasher

they look like they were made from the same manufacter
I need another fihting knife like them

I really liked blackjack knives if I won't find anything else I will go for them :)

you mean it's possible to remove the non reflective coat without damageing the knife? That's a great idea
Have someone evere tried? If so can I have some pics of the work?

Thanks guys
meanwhile any other idea, advice is welcome :)

Why does it have to be similar to your others?
Cause that's what he likes/wants! Let's help the guy!!!
Heck, I know I have a few similar knives.
I think Acetone will do the trick to help you remove the coating, but be careful. First, make sure it won't affect the Kraton, (I don't think it will) second, work in an open area, with good ventilation.

Some of the knives look like crap underneath the paint..so..you're gonna have to do quite a bit of work.

The blade is polished, and it compliments the rest nicely. Try a SOG Trident, too, though STILL micarta (thought there was a Kraton version too)

Have you looked at the Junglee Hatori fighter?
Also look at the Katz version of the same knife-with full kraton handles

If you want a Blackjack in the 5" - 6" blade range, try a Grunt - just get the kydex sheath with it. No 'skull crusher' pommel but this knife has one of the best handles on any knife I own - including the CS Tanto IMO...

First step Zip-A-Strip paint remover. Then sand with grits starting at around 200 up to 800 (or as high as 2000 if you want)

For a sanding tutorial look
