Does Aitor make any reliable products?

Does anyone know anything about the quality of Aitor's knives other than their hollow handle ones. I purchased a Jungle King Two a year ago, and wasn't very impressed with its quality. It was fairly dull, and the sheath system felt overly cheap. The reason I ask now is that I'm still interested in the Cuchillo De Monte which seems a little better. It's the same price as the JK II but looks a lot more robust. The CDM also seems to offer less features, which I would think means that a little more care might have gone into its construction. I posted a thread related to it a year ago and I know that I was told that it comes with a decent working edge, but not a spectacular one. At the time I didn't have a decent sharpener so that scared me off. Now I have a Spyderco sharpmaker which I love, and part of my question is if I were to get one, can this system handle a recurve blade, and how about the sharpened clip portion of the blade?
Sorry for all the questions, as usual any info is much appreciated. thanks.

I have a Aitor Nato Bowie, its the only Aitor model I have ever handled and everything about it is great!!

BG, how's the fit and finish around the handle/guard. It appears to have the same handle as the Cuchillo de Monte, has the guard worked its way loose or is it still holding up, this seems as though it could be a potential problem, also how was the factory edge. I'm not looking for scary, but a decent working edge out of the box wouldn't be bad. The Jungle King didn't even have that.

I have the Cuchillo del Monte - I had it professionally sharpened and it is awesome... Yes, the sawback also works - I went thru 3" limbs with little to no binding and relatively quickly. I also own the Raid Galuoises... Both knives have excellent fit/finish for being production blades, and I'd carry either into the woods in a heartbeat. I actually use the C del M with a piggyback pouch for a leatherman and have relied on that as my primary tools for packing...

Joeshredd,
That's good news, one of the few features I did like about the JK I had was that the saw actually was meant for sawing, not just designed to make notches. Glad to hear that the CDM performs better, unfortunately I don't know of any good pro sharpeners around here, but I can probably do a decent job with a sharpmaker. Thanks for the info.

Don't they use a 440 grade steel? Really beautiful knives, especially the small hunters. Their factory edge should be pretty good, and the Sharpmaker will do a great job on them. It handles recurves without any extra effort -- you just have to follow the basic technique, which you should use on all edges anyway, of not pressing too hard.

One thing you might like to learn to do is, after you've gone through the regular routine on the V, take the rods off, turn the base upside down, place the rods in the slots and make a benchstone out of them! Use this for sharpening the very tip, rather than rounding it by sharpening it on the V.

I'm sorry about your Jungle King not measuring up, but a lot of companies embarrassed themselves with survival knives.
