Does an angled "tanto" tip perform as TWO points?

Just lookin at one and it ...seems...that the bendy part of the point would act as another tip as far as slicing goes.
Be interesting to hold a "tanto" tip and a conventional blade in same hand and slice at something and see which goes deeper.

Yeah, it sort of does. It works good for cutting cardboard without putting the knife all the way through it. For example, cutting open a box without cutting what's inside it. Easier to control than a drop point, and cuts better. A sheepsfoot or wharncliffe is still easier to control than a tanto in such a situation. With a drop/clip point, you'd have to use the tip much more, but you'll be pushing down and you might stab whatever's inside. To be honest, this is about the only thing I like about tantos, but that's not enough for me to use one regularly.

Yes, it does act as a second tip, albeit a less acute one. As Planterz said, it's great for opening packaging without piercing the contents. It's also a great way to start a slice cut, as it introduces 2 different cutting edges to the medium to be sliced.
