Does anodizing void your warranty?

I just got a 0561 from another BF member and the ti is anodized green. Does this void warranty? Does the fact that I got it second hand void warranty? Love the knife, just it may need new bearings. There is one ball missing from one and it also has side to side blade play... Also does anyone know how to get stripped screws out? That's on my 0550 that I purchased new. I think I need a new t8 torx, but I can not seem to get it out. Its just the one screw.... Thank you in advance for all your help.... Dan

The minute you open most knives (disassemble them) that alone voids the warranty....

In that case all my warrantys are void lol. Thank you for the heads up. Never had a problem I could not fix till this one, as far as the bearing goes. I will give CS a call thank you very much, as I did not realize they may just send me a new bearing. That's Awesome CS if they just send parts u can put in yourself!!!

seriously dont worry about it. Kershaw has a very nice warranty on their knives. The only way I would see them denying warranty service is if the modifications done to the knife is what caused the failure. In other words the knife being annodized has nothing to do with if your blade snapped in half when cutting something. As for your bearings they have sent me new KVT bearings in the mail without even having to send the knife in. And if they wont you can buy loose bearings and pop one in there. Bottom line is KAI will not encourage you to pimp or modify one of their knives. And they wont give you advice on how to do it. But they also wont punish you for doing so as long as you dont screw something up and expect them to fix it because of your mistake.

ZT takes it on a case by case basis. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...nce-0561-problems-detent-way-too-strong/page2

check out the top of the second page. If it's working fine but just needs new bearings, a call to ZT's CS dept may get you a set so you wouldn't have to send your knife in.
-Best of luck!

Just for clarification, disassembling your Kershaw/ ZT does not void it's warranty, period.

To get a stripped 0550 screw out you take a Dremmel with a thin sanding disc and basically turn it into a flathead slotted screw. Very slowly, and very carefully. I just did that a couple days ago based on the suggestion of ZT customer service. They sent me a new set of screws, also.

I think you mean to turn it into a slotted screw, making it a flat head would make matters worse. Another way to get screws out is to pound the next size larger driver into the buggered screw. You'll destroy the screw and possibly the driver, but the screw will more than likely come out without any problems.

A Google search answered my question. You're correct, making it a flathead screw would definitely make it much worse.
What I should have said was that I made it into a screw that I could remove with a flathead screwdriver. Or that I made it into a slotted screw, but I wasn't aware that I was giving terrible advice by saying flathead screw.
I fixed it. Carry on.

Most people knew what you were talking about.

thank you everyone I got the screw out with a t10 torx. Going to give CS a call for replacement screws in the am.

Never thought to even check on this, but after reading a couple posts on this thread, I want to confirm this. Will adding a custom scale to my 056x void the warrantee? Thanks.

Good luck getting parts though. I called them about getting a replacement standoff/screws last week and I was told they don't have any replacement parts to send, and I would have to send the knife in :(.
*On a side note, the handle screws are .20" under the head, and I can't even find any to order if I wanted to use a custom standoff.*

That sucks I emailed them for the replacement parts they have yet to get back to me. It does say three days though. I will definitely post here if and when i hear back from them...
