Does another company own Mtech USA?

So a little while ago I bought a fixed blade by Mtech USA at Big 5. Okay I went in today and saw the exact knife made by Tomahawk blades, I mean exactly the same knife. I have bought knives from both brands before and they are mostly crap, I only have one knife that is decent from Tomahawk blades, and the fixed blade I just bought made by Mtech is surprisingly sturdy, big shocker!!! Anyway I was wondering if any bigger company owns Mtech, or are they their own brand? I can't find anything on them. I know that Tomahawk Blades is owned by United Cutlery, I initially figured Mtech fell under United Cutlery as well, due to the fact that there are two identical knives with different stamps on the tang!! But I don't think that's the case. I know that Mtech steals many models but this is a new one for me. If anybody knows anything on this topic, I would appreciate some info.

Note: I am not an expert in these matters, so my answers may not have any credence.

-However, I have noticed something similar. I bought a dagger made with the MTtech USA logo on the blade. Later, I saw an identical dagger labeled as Smith and Wesson (S&W) production. It looked pretty much exactly the same, except with the S&W logo on the blade.
-On Amazon, I saw a lot of fixed blade knives made by MTech that are also identical to S&W "Search and Rescue" fixed blades.
-In L.A., I bought a folding MTech knife, which I later saw on Bladeplay. However, the one listed on Bladeplay is labeled with a "Tiger USA" logo.

These are the daggers I saw that I believe are virtually identical, save for the logo.

My theory is that a factory in China (or somewhere) will make thousands of each knife model. For example, they will make 10,000 boot daggers. Then, knife companies such as S&W or MTech purchase a large number of the knife model (e.g. - 1000 boot knives each), and they pay to have their logo printed on the blade. And because Taylor Brands LLC is responsible for making S&W knives, I seriously doubt that S&W and MTech are linked in any way. This process may not be used for making all knives, just certain models. If MTech or S&W are stealing knife designs from each other, then I'm sure there'd be rampant lawsuits or some kind of hullabaloo over the matter. And again, this process is just a theory of mine; I have no idea if it's actually true.

This theory of mine may explain why some MTech knives you have are crappy, while some are sturdy and high quality. MTech may have bought both good and bad knife designs/models, and perhaps you bought the crappy models. Personally, all of the knives I've bought under MTech's logo have been very sharp, sturdy, and have decent construction, but maybe I'm just lucky.

This is just conjecture: if anyone has any light to shed on the matter, please come forward. I've never been able to find any info on MTech USA either.

I as well have seen an identical smith and wesson model to my two-tone black and blue mtech usa folder. only difference being the brand logos. even the shade of metallic blue was the same.

That is a very interesting theory, it makes perfect sense. I never would have thought of that! Thanks a bunch for your input.

All those us companies such as m-tech bought those knives frome exact same chinese manufacture. thas why they are all same. those knives are not necessarily to be bad, but due to the poor design, super low manufacture cost, and the shitty quality control, a huge portion of them are really bad. if u are lucky enough you may get a good one.

Master Cutlery (https://www.mastercutlery.com) owns MTech and Taylor Brand (http://taylorbrandsllc.com/) owns or provides S&W knives under their License. Taylor also imports most if not all of their knives from China. They have Schrade, Uncle Henry, Old Timer, Imperial and as I said Smith and Wesson. As for Tomahawk blades my guess they buy from the same Chinese source. Remember, as knives go, you get what you can pay. Taylor has some good quality for the price.
