does any company use VG-10 besides Spyderco?

I'm really a fan of VG-10 - it sharpens easily, and gets really (!) sharp. Although I'm a big Spyderco fan, I'm wondering if anyone else uses it.

What I'm looking for is a smaller, more slender blade than what Spyderco
usually puts out. Something like the Kiwi - except that one is too expensive, I think.

The Kopas are close, but again - expensive. I have one in Cocobolo (maybe I should actually use it, instead of saving it).

I'm looking for a whittler, basically...

Thanks in advance

I know that Shun Kitchen knives use this steel. I don't know of any makers of folding knives that use it though.

Grizz

The Kershaw Lahar has a VG-10 blade. Only about $60. Not a real small blade though.

Cold Steel uses VG-1. Don't know how close it comes to VG-10, but I'd bet most people wouldn't notice any difference.

Wow! Thanks for all the quick replies!

Don't you guys have anything better to do ?? :D

Uh, I guess I don't, either...;)

Moki makes some beautiful, elegant folders w/VG-10. Best of new & old, with VG-10 blades, stainless bolsters & liners, bone & pearl handles. Fit & finish are excellent. Not necessarily cheap, but worth the money, IMO. Here's an example pic:

They've already been mentioned, but Al Mar, Fallkniven, and Mcusta come to mind as well as A G Russell on some of his folders. I've used Al Mar's VG10 on a mini-SERE and a couple of Nomads and it is exceptionally well done. Very sharp, even bevels, nicely polished.

Some of AG Russell's knives use VG-10. You could also try looking at knives with steels that have similar properties to VG-10, like Sandvic 14C28N or 154CM.

Also did you look at the Spyderco Centofante 3? It has the thinnest Spydie blade at 2mm, and it's hollow ground to make it even sharper and thinner behind the edge.

Fujitake uses VG-10 in their kitchen knives. It is a wonderful kitchen steel. Most of the VG-10 I have seen is on blades made in Japan, where VG-10 is made.

Are the VG-10 Fallknivens made in Europe or under contract in Japan like the Seki-made Spydercos?

Let's not forget the Seki City Cold Steel VG-1 knives like my large Voyagers stamped VG-1, made in Japan - I assume Seki City productions as well. The pre-2011 CS Voyager has a super nice construction and high performance blade steel for a pinned folder IMO. :)
