does any ti framelock compete with the sage 2 for the price?

Pretty much what the subject asks. I've been reading a lot of the posts about sebenza alternatives, ti framelock love, etc. and it doesn't seem like any company can put together a package as nicely built as the Spyderco Sage 2 for a similar price. I just related my disappointment with A.G. Russell's Italian Made Tactical in a previous thread, and every other option seems to be closer to $200. Just to cover my bases, is there anything below $150 that can compare?

Sage 2 isn't a Ti-lock. So if you're ONLY out for Ti-locks, then you're going to have a tougher time finding something truly extraordinary for as cheap as you want to pay. Spydies are great knives though, so it can be very tough to beat or match their quality. There are some other great knives at that price point though. Hogue EX-01, for instance. Several ZT offerings. It kinda depends on what you're looking for.

How is the sage 2 not a titanium framelock?

Bradley Alias User on the secondary market, or a spyderco leafstorm are the other two options I've been weighing.

Well... there aren't too many asian imports using Ti. Boker has one, and that's all I can think of right this second.

The Bradley Alias 1 & 2 come close and they're made in the USA

Also consider the ZT 0350 (not really analogous to a Seb, but rather to a Strider)

I bet Kershaw could give the Sage a run for its money if (when) KAI moves most of its production overseas

I didn't read the other thread, but I have no doubt that if you contacted AGR about your grievance he would take care of you.He has the best customer service of all the catalog knife stores.

I've got a ZT 0350, and I like it, but it's much bigger than the Sage2. I think I'll keep an eye out for a second hand alias.

Yes, as I said in the other thread, AGR is taking good care of me, they've been prompt and helpful. The only reason I didn't request a replacement was because I believe that my main issue with the knife is a design flaw, not a defect.

I know of 3, but none of them are comparable in quality.

OP, I think your best bet right now would be a ZT 0550. It's not out quite yet, but when it is, it should be about $160 from some online retailers.

You, sir, win the internets.

Of course, we all know that the Spyderco Sage 2 is constructed from the remaining bits of Captain America's shield, of which itself is made of the only known sample of vibranium on earth. It is the exported to the glorious country of the People's Republic of China, where is is crafted by the current Emperor's finest concubines. The vibranium framelock combined with the fit and finish by China's finest concubines gives the Sage 2 extremely high value and performance... as well as giving the Sebenza a run for its money.

That's pretty damn funny dude:D

I literally laughed out loud. haha
Sage 2 IS a Ti RIL or Frame Lock.

As far as an alternative, the Buck TNT may be something to look at if you can find one on the after market.
Used ones typically go fro $130-150 depending on the condition and seller.

Buying a Ti frame lock brand new for <$150 is pretty tough to do considering the materials and quality the Sage 2 offers.

That's because it is...

I think he was confused with one of the other sage offerings. At least I hope he was.

That or he thought OP meant Ti-lock, as in "Chris Reeve Ti-lock" instead of titanium lock, as in "Reeve integral lock." Does that make sense?

Whoops. This guess was the right one. My bad! (many of the stores advertise it as being a linerlock)

Short answer: no, not for that price. The Sage 2 is not a Sebenza and doesn't try to be, but it's 40% of the cost and a great value at that price point.

Wrong. Sage 2 is a Ti-Framelock.
Sage 1 is a Linerlock...
Sage 3 is a ball lock (looks kidna like axis deal) if I recall

Buck Mayo TNT could be had for less than $150 a few months ago. But they are discontinued now and the price has went up.
