Does anybody do sheaths for rubber knives?

I have the cold steel peace keeper and have a rubber kurkuri on the way that I use mostly for airsoft.

And I would really like a sheath for them.

Without of course paying like ten times the price of the knife for a custom.

Otherwise I was thinking of going pvc and just melting it. But then I assume I can't really fold it around the knife easily as it would melt the knife. I would have to make a blank and so on. And I am not really very crafty to begin with.

So yeah. Does anyone do sheaths?

It would be easier to make your own sheath. You would just need some leather a sharp knife and either a stitching or riveting tool. You, should be able to get a couple of simple sheaths done in an afternoon.

Agreed !

I will only add that rubber practice blades will be thicker and much less slick than steel .

So the sheathes should be made with this^^^ in mind . :)

Wander on over to Sheaths and Such and I bet we can help ya out.

Making sheaths is fun and doesn't have to be expensive. With about $30 worth of leather and thread and a creative mindset, you should be able to crank out a couple of sheaths in short order.

As D DocJ mentioned, the blades tend to be a bit thicker than the real deal at times. My Nightshade Tai Pan won't fit into the SecureEx sheaths that came with my actual knife.

The nice thing about making a sheath for a rubber training knife is that it can be much simpler since you don't have to account for the blade cutting through the stitching.

Seriously, a bit of leather shipped to you from Tandy as well a spool of waxed nylon thread (great for crafts and fixes beyond leather work as well), and you'll be set. You probably don't even need to buy any fancy leather dye unless you are going to get into the hobby for real. I have used wood stain in a pinch.

Best of luck!

Rubber knife? How about buying a foot or so of that thin (40 mil), flexible PVC sheet that they use as a liner under a shower pan? I've seen it sold at Lowe's or Home Depot by the foot. Should be able to glue it with PVC pipe cement.

Beat me to it! I was just about to say that D Drop bear should get a hold of you after seeing your post elsewhere. That PVC sheath turned out really great!

Thanks ! To be honest I haven’t liked them so far . Now I see how practical they are , easy to maintain and clean, they hold the knife securely and it is very cheap and fast to make them .I spend hours on this one from leather and I still have to sew it by hand. And I made the same mistake again !! I make another one sheath for carrying on the left side and I am right-handed 😂

That is good for pvc

By the way for the cold steel rubber peacemaker. The Mora kransbol sheath fits perfectly.

Literally just found that then.
