Do newer Spyderco's come with a tighter pocket clip that would hold onto thin material like Cotton/Poly? At work, I have to wear a uniform. I have a much older Endura and the clip is not conducive to thin clothing material. Originally I was leaning towards the SS version of the Delica only because it would give me some heft hanging on my pocket and I would hopefully notice it if it went missing, but if the clip is anything like my Endura, all bets are off.

I've found the Spyderco wire clips seem to work well with lighter clothing. My go-to "dress" knife for a long time was a Chaparral with a wire clip and it worked great on dress pants.

been wearing a uniform (US Navy) for 21 years...never had an issue with spyderco clips.

Yeah, you can adjust the tension of the clip by taking it off and bending it a little. I have done it quite a few times. Usually after catching the clip on something like a seatbelt which can bend it out and loosen it a little.

For sure. The "footprint" of the wire clip is two very small pressure points vs. the one larger one of the flat clip; even if the tension is the same.

Depends on just how old his old endura is.

Evidently not as old as yours. Looks like your predates mine. My Enduro I bought in 2000 which makes it 17. Even your handle is different.
Goody, then the bend trick should work for you. That's a photo I pulled off of the Spydie forum of an original Endura. The clip was once molded directly into the handle scale.

As for your original question. The clips on modern Spydercos are good. I generally have more problems with them being difficult to retrieve from thick fabric than I do with them sliding off of thin material.

Thanks everyone, just goes to show how much of a neophyte I am. Even though I have had the Endura for all this time I never really got into knives like I find myself getting into them here lately. When I bought my Endura I also bought the Sharpmaker and have since shelved the Sharpmaker months and months ago. I made the adjustment (bent) the clip to accommodate a tighter fit. This probably can be repeated since the clip appears to be made out of Spring Steel? Thanks again, I am clearly a "Work in Progress". ;)

This is a great place to learn! Yes, unless it’s really messed up you should be able to bend that clip as much as you need. I’ve bent out many clips on many different brands (Spyderco included) and they’re never hard to get back where you want them.

Avoid it like the plague, getting into knives. It's just like golf, pool, cars, etc. A never ending money pit from which there is no return. I love it.

I carried an SS Dragonfly with my security officer's thin uniform pants for over a year, never had a problem with it falling out. I think the extra mass of the steel scales helps a bit too.
