Does anybody else mod clips they don't like............

I hope this thread can stay here in General and be not be moved.

I'm not a fan of big ugly clips....some Kershaws and other manf. Shiny clips are also something I'm not a fan of.

I've used my dremel and bench grinder to mod a few BU clips to a more normal size. I heat treat the shiny clips on the knives with the big hole in the blade.

I don't think a darker color g 10 needs a shiny clip on it. Spyderco used to used more black clips..........I wish they'd start using black clips again.

Kershaw owners don't forget KAI will send you a free clip. That's what I did with the KAI clips I modded.....I have a spare in case ever want to sell or trade.


Does anyone else mod clips they cant stand or do you just not buy the knife ?

I mod them as fast as I get them. My dremel, handheld butane torch, and I have turned many a standard clip into a foldover, deep-carry clip. I like to mod clips.

the knives I buy I generally mod for three things with a dremel and hand sanding: Sharpening/finger Choil, Left hand tip-up carry and easier left hand opening

I'm not crazy about the painted Delica clips and strip them. Nice bead blasted texture under that paint.

I either bead blast mine or replace the black zinc clips with satin/SW clips. I also grind clips like the ones found on he DDR/HTM GH2 to a round tip.
