i do not shave my face, only my head and neck. i have a few straight razors and i feel comfortable shaving my neck with them, but the idea of shaving my head with a straight blade still isn't very appealing. however, cartridge razors cost an arm and a leg and i am tired of them. i enjoy the process of shaving and was wondering, does anybody shave there head with a de razor? if you shaved with a carthridge before, did you have to make any changes? pre-shave, aftershave, etc. thanks for any info.

I use a DE on my head and face, and lemme tell ya, for the scalp especially it's way better than cartridges/disposables. I splash hot water on my head and lather up with a $15 shaving brush and inexpensive shaving soap. A lot less waste and expense than creams, gels and what have you. I can get my scalp really smooth with a single pass of the DE.

Worse comes to worse, I've learned that shaving the scalp with a straight is possible without killing myself or ending up like Van Gogh, but it's much more time consuming, and doesn't get as close in a single pass.

I've been shaving my head recently. I used a Schick Quattro the first time. I then switched to using a DE. I'm gonna quit shaving my head, though. My hair grows in so many different directions that I just can't get it BBS, and I hate that velour feeling.

i'm considering shaving my head with my straight razor just for the heck of it, if i do it soon i'll post here, unless i lose an ear.

Haven't quit shaving it yet. May not quit. Getting used to it. Need to go shower and shave now.
Noxzema is the best thing to happen to wet shavers. As much as I love my shaving soap, Noxzema(Well, the Wal Mart Equate version, anyway) gives me the best shaves I've ever had. Plus it's cheap. $2.97 for a 1 pound tub.

Good luck, Trig!

While it's not something I'd do on a regular basis, it gives you that feeling of accomplishment that comes with using a straight... even more so, because of the larger area and having to risk shaving blind in some scenarios. On the plus side, the skin of the head is mostly already quite taut, so in that sense it's a bit easier than that flappy atrocity I call my face. :D

i contined my search on head shaving and with a straight razor, and after i found a few videos my faith has been restored. i am sending my two razor's to a honemiester, one for sharpening and one for restoration, then the learning will begin. something i noted on those video's , you can really tell when someone is using something dangerous around themselves from the look of concentration in there eyes. personally i find things that are dangerous keep you sharp. Jaymo, i will have to try the noxema trick out, i usually keep a tub around for if i get a sunburn.

I shaved my face and head last night with my little pre-1951 Gillette Tech using a Dollar General Personna blade that usually irritates my face while giving me a BBS shave.
I used Noxzema instead of shave soap and got no irritation. Head was so S M O O T H!
I'm starting to like my Uncle Fester look.
Think I'll use my adjustable and my Derby blade tonight. I want to see how many shaves I can get with it before it irritates my skin.
