Does anyone actually carry the CF Civilian?

I was wondering to myself earlier - does anyone actually carry the CF Civilian? Especially since there were only 1200 made. Are they just collectors pieces? Are people just letting them sit in the drawer until they become impossible to find? Or are some of them EDCs?

Me fail english? That's unpossible!

No - I don't use.
My CF plain rests in zipper pouch next to my old plain. Civilians are my only knives that I don't use. I do fondle them but never take them outdoors. Our edged weapon law allows carrying a knife when needed in work etc. but no use as weapon is allowed - even for self defence.

Why do I own three Civilians and a Matriarch? Because I want to. There just is nothing like (plain) Civilian.

Plain edge CF Civilian #448 rides with me everwhere everyday...Clip shows wear and some marks close to the piviot from the 6,000,000,000 + openings...Even though I carry it nothing and I mean nothing else rides in the same pocket as her...I Try to keep her as scratch free as possiable...

Duck, I am relieved to see your Spydie has an ascertainable gender too!

At least I'm not alone.

Given all the talk of fondling, I think it best that we anthropormorphize our blades to be of the opposite gender.

Then again, I suppose if one can handle repeatedly and often with out fondling or caressing it, they can remain gender neutral or of our own persuasion.

Hey guys, remember these things are tools! Right? Tools. Nothing more.

A friend of mine uses the plain CF civilian as a every day carry. I would think that it was somewhat impractical due to the fact that it was bulky, large, and he works in an office. we've scared a couple of co-workers by our discussions about gear, projectile and otherwise. I was thinking about it, but decided to go with the BT starmate. i keep hearing about the tip breakage on all those matriarchs and civs....

Toast I think you made a wise decision. Considering the civis really are not designed for utility use. Therefore, IMHO they are really not practical for everyday carry. Unless of course you are expecting to have to use it for "DEFENSE".

Yes on the Matriarch, look where I live...

The weird thing is, my friend also had a military. He had a striker, than the mil,a harpy which he lost so he "replaced" it with the civ. we had both just read "Hannibal". then he got in his randall 18, which he ordered two YEARS earlier and the civ in one day. "It was like Christmas, which do I open first?". I was jealous. The starmate was a good answer to the civ. he kept pushing me for me to get one. problem is, i would've opted for the CF plain blade, but even the g-10 serrated was intimidating. hook fighting isn't for me. he has had a third degree black for years. I always thought his military was one BAD knife, especially as a folder, but the style was all wrong. the BT starmate has the extra thick blade, the 440v minimalist design, a good profile and a serious swedge. also, the straight grip was more easily reversible. long blade taper on the civ and even the mil mean they have to be used expertly to escape permanent edge and tip damage.
besides, the civ looks like you have a mouse in your back pocket. it's so friggin big.

A regular 'wall-in' customer of mine carries his everyday, but I think he has decided to swap for the Keeting he bought last week..not same style knife by anymeans, but this guy is definition of a knife nut...md

Sorry don't own a CF Civilian but I have a G-10 model. The knife isn't carried everyday that title goes to the SIFU. But the SIFU is BIG and doesn't carry well in dress clothing. When "dressed to impress" the civilian is my carry. I find that it's light enough and thin enough for slacks or inside a sport coat. The knife is very well made and it's definitly a conversation piece.
