I was wondering if anyone carried 550 military para-cord on a daily basis? If so, how do you carry it? Where do you carry it? How much do you carry? I would like to carry a 15-25 foot lenth in a pocket, but not sure the best way. I would like it to be easily accessable and quick, yet the small.

Thank you,

Clay

I keep a 10m (30ft) length of para cord in one of the outside pockets of my daily carry laptop bag. At least it starts off at 30ft - I often find that I cut lengths off to tie things up - it amazes people that I carry cord and a knife!! :D

Regards,

Ed

I carry three pieces of 550 cord

1)35 or so feet in a pocket of my knapsack
2)About 10 feet that is wrapped around the headband of my boonie cap
3)a 3-5 foot length that is tied as a fob on my keys

I carry:

3ft on each shoe as laces (currently wear red 550 cord laces)
30ft in a day pack that I usually have with me
30ft in the butt stock of my AR
150ft section, two 50ft sections and a few 20 - 30ft sections in the truck

I keep 30 ft. of cord in my "briefcase" kit. Being a "white collar" guy, and working in a large metropolitan city, I need to be a little more discreet about how I carry my "gear". So the cord, along with other "goodies", goes in a small Briggs & Riley compartmentalized case that fits nicely in my briefcase!

One advantage of being white collar in NYC is that a LOT of us ride the subway, so knapsacks are OK. I just got my new knapsack - an Eagle Becker Patrol Pack - VERY nice. I had never seen one in person, but my wife got me one for my birthday (so it came 3 weeks late <g>). Blows the old Northface way! Got some comments about it at work, but the comments were along the lines of "Let me look at that - Wow that's nice"

I usually have a little with me.

I had about 25 feet in one of the large pockets of my cargo pants today. Along with electrical tape, a gerber tool, a kubaton, and a sprare (cheap) rollerball.
Other large pocket contained a small fixed blade, in secured sheath, and Emerson Commander. Gotta have lotsa stuff to cut that cord with now! :D hehe

I am slowly dragging my Scouts into the "Be Prepared" world and this sill get past the mom's better than the knives did. Surely!
