Does Anyone EDC a CRKT S-2 Large?

When these things went on sale at SMKWs for $25, I thought, and STILL think, that it was one of THE outstanding knife deals of all time. I bought eight of them and my brother bought two (Free Shipping). Still, I didn't begin actually carrying one until this past year off and one. Now I find that it's becoming one of my favorite knives.

It features a 3.8-inch ATS-34 blade and a titanium 6AL4V frame. It cuts exceptionally well, is easy to sharpen and holds an edge significantly longer than my AUS8 Cold Steels, which hold their edges just fine.

Because of a bicycle injury to my ribs, I find that it's one of the most comfortable knives to carry inside the waistband. Except for the teflon washers, which I really don't mind, and which can be changed easily enough, it's probably quality-wise one of the best knives I own. As much as I like my Spyderco Native and my new Buck 110 Alaskan from Cabela's, this one has really impressed me. The only thing is, while I hear a lot of praise for the Spyderco Native and Buck 110s (of all stripes), I almost never hear of anyone mentioning this knife as an EDC. Mostly it's relegated to safes or drawers.

I'm sorry that CRKT is no longer producing it, opting instead for the AUS4"miracle steel" (it's a miracle anyone would buy it). ATS-34 is a decent blade steel and probably should be used more, not less, by companies using AUS8.

Anyway, does anyone carry an S-2 on a daily basis? Just wondering.

i had one and sold it. great blade and an unbelievable value, i just didn't like how it carried. nothing specific, just didn't fit me.

Yes, I#ve got a large S-2 in my EDC-rotation. Unfortunately a serrated one. It was my first quality knife and I would carry it much more often if it was a plain one :).

I like the S2 and have EDC'ed my large model. It always gets put back in the box for a spyderco due to better ergonomics ( I'm getting less dexterous in my hands as time goes by so a good fit helps much). It is a very well built knife made of good materials.

You got an amazing deal at $25 each. I'd have done the same. For some reason I like ATS 34 better than 154cm, though that's not really logical.

The Ti model with the AUS 118 is nice too, but not as nice. The Aus 118 was underated IMO. Joe

I own both large and small and carry both from time to time , both were pimped by yours truly and they look much cooler now IMO , the small on is sitting in my left pocket , clipless.

They are awesome knives.

The blade shape took a bit getting used to but otherwise I really like this model.

I would buy a few more in an instant if I find them on sale.:)

I've owned several over the years mostly the large model and a very fine knife with excellant steel and still have the large. I would buy another in an instant. Some fella was selling some here that he had pimped but he never answered my emails. keepem sharp

I have a large with blue Ti handles. I would have preferred the small but I don't regret getting the large.

I have a large and a couple of the small ones. I just haven't found a use for the large one yet, it's just too big for me. A small one gets carried in a shirt pocket at work occasionally. I've been thinking about getting 2 or 3 of the midsize ones but since I have a small Sebenza, I'm not sure they would see any use.

I like larger knives, so the S-2 is fine with me. The knife lays flat and slim in my waistband or tucks into a side pocket.

The tiitanium frame does scuff up pretty easily, though. It's not like that HA-III aluminum that resists abrasions so well.

The ATS-34 blade does a great job of cutting and keeps its edge better than any of my other CRKTs.

It's a knife that's grown on me. And I noticed the ones I got don't have thumb studs on the right side of the blades, so lefties would be out of luck.

Well, if I do, I'll post here. I've given some away and stashed the others, but I have to admit it was one of the most spectacular deals I've seen. That and the M21-04 are the only CRKTs I'm glad I bought. The serrations on CRKT knives are too bumpy to suit me, but you don't notice those things until you get them outside and find you're trying to cut everything with the two inches of blade you've got available! Still, they're fine weapons, but not great cutters. The S-2 is a fantastic cutter, though.

I have a large serrated, too. I've contemplated taking off the serrations on a diamond stone.

morrowj_98, I hadn't realized yours had blue Ti when you posted pics before. I thought it was weird lighting combined with my colorblindness, but that's a really nice find.
