Does anyone edc Higonokami knife?

I have a couple....the blades on real Higos are very sharp but realllllllllly thick, more like a chisel than a knife. You really need to keep them in a leather pouch too as they can pop open in your pocket, and as they are very sharp that can lead to getting sliced pretty badly.

Also the opener/blade stop tab makes a great pocket buster if you don't keep it in a slip or a belt pouch, even if the blade doesn't open to speed things up.

I carry this one on occasions it's quite small as you see being next to a peanut . I carry it in a little leather slip and think it is a great slicer.

I also carry a small Ohta like the one R.c.s R.c.s has pictured, same little size great carry knife and user

I carry my higos as an ancillary knife when I am carrying an edc fixed blade like my Street Beat.

What are pros and cons of this knife?

Pros: Light weight, sharp, cheap, usually made of good carbon steel, holds an edge, easy to sharpen, comes in San Mai clad steel.

Cons: Doesn't lock open or closed nor is it biased to stay open or closed, that's a pretty big problem that affects using the knife, carrying the knife and is a safety concern...not to be used drunk :) Not much belly to the blade, usually on the small size.

I have an IC Cutlery one with cocobolo handles and San Mai steel. I rarely carry it, but it's pretty and quite sharp.

You can minimize the risk of opening in your pocket by carrying it tip down, and by peening the pivot to tune the action. I carry mine every so often, but I find a slicier blade like an Opinel more generally useful.

All the time .....

This is a smaller one. Only con, as already stated, is that I would never want to carry one loose in pocket. A sheath is always a good idea.
That is an AMAZING looking knife!!!

I carried this 10 in my pocket for a bit over a week, and took it out a few days ago.
Just finished a "small modification" to make it handier to carry. I like the knife. I believe it will be a semi permanent or permanent part of my EDC starting this P.M.

I may replace the ring with a 6mm Chicago Screw or Cutler's rivet. In the meantime, I can clip it to my belt or neck knife strap.
