Does ANYONE EDC Kudu or Eland?

I am interested on any info on these knives, like the looks and also thin blades should cut and slice well.

Got the Kudu a few weeks ago. It's very lightweight but I prefer to carry it in the side pockets of my cargo pants cause it's quite long. The ring lock might rattle a little but it's a nice and secure lock and fun to use once it's broken in and you got used to it. The Blade is a good slicer. You get a very nice and robust knife for your money.

It is a very good slicer, once you get it sharp. ;') I'm not in love with that 4116 steel but others seem to think it's acceptable. shrug

I own three CS knives made of 4116 and all three were able to push cut paper with the factory edge, I think sharpness is sufficient

Good for you. I only have this Kudu and I guarantee it will be my last 4116 knife....ever.

In 4116 I have the Kudu, three Elands, a Peace Maker II, a Roach Belly, and a Tanto Lite. All came hair shaving sharp from the factory, except the Kudu which sharpened up very easily.

I don't carry them though, I have a Tuff Lite for the kind of cutting that occurs outside the house. I leave an Eland lying around the house because it's a great slicer when I need to open something.

Guess I'm just unlucky and got the only crappy Kudu on the planet. Seriously, I was hoping to like it. I mean, who doesn't want to find a good functional pocket knife for 8 bucks? shrug

Yup. It gives a sense of freedom to carry a knife you could purposely destroy and could care less. My primary would cringe at the things I've done with this.

I have both. I carry them when I am doing yard work. I don't want to get dirt and sweat on my nicer, more expensive knives. That's it. I don't think it makes sense to over-analyze a $10 knife.
I really like the Eland's 5 1/2 inch blade. They need to create a "Giraffe" model with a 10 inch blade next year.:thumbup:

I think I'll purchase an eland. If I knew it existed I would have bought it instead.

I carry mine the rare times I wear gym shorts because its light and the lanyard I added balances the weight of the knife so I can just tuck it in and not worry about it. I also put a Kwik Thumbstud on it. I use it sometimes when I'm slicing cheese or other foods items that would benefit from the thin blade. I understand people don't like its edge retention but it still holds up pretty well to me, especially for how cheap it is. All around, it is definitely worth the price.

I've been using a Kudu for several years, and the Eland since it came out, both for general in house cutting chores. Outstanding bang for the buck! Holds a decent edge and definitely sharpens up easily when needed.

I have one but I dislike the lock, the keyring makes it feel overly cheap. Might have a go in modifying it and see if I like the knife better overall :)

Krupp steel is not bad at all, especially for kitchen use,and is easy to touch up on sharpening steel or ceramics(couple swipes here and there). Had Long Hunter in this steel and performed really well.Unfortunately I have lost that knife somewhere, really liked it.

I like the knives, but I won't EDC a knife without a pocket clip unless it's a very small keychain knife like an SAK.

Here's what I did to mine to make it more carry-friendly. I can hang the "fob" out of my pocket or waistband, use it to pull out the knife, and then I hold it with the handle while cutting and it helps to fill my hand as the Kudu's grip is very thin/small in the hand. I have also lightly sanded the blade to remove the etching and the mirror finish, and I think it looks better this way.

Mine in my pocket every day I use in Kitchen often . I keep it sharp few passes on my steel and ready for duty. I have a Tanto Lite This be a good IWB SD knife and if you loose you not out a lot of money Just needs a better sheath . I bought my daughter a couple CS kitchen knives . over a year ago. She still using and hasn't told me they need sharpened. She carries a CS push knife

Agree with you on the Tanto Lite for SD, Michael. Carry one in one of my Drawpoint sheaths when wearing sweats or running shorts. I use an Eland just about everyday.
