title says it all got a chance to hold a cold steel recon from a coworker and it confirmed what i always thought just by watching those videos on their website.crap hated everything about it. after looking over a few more of their products i have started to really hate them.just trying to see if anyone else has similar feeling towards them.

imo you shouldnt hate them just because others are, every man has different point of views on everything. Their knives dont suck that bad, its just not high end quality but its definately a user! too many band wagon hoppers. Just my 2 cents

Well I guess my feelings toward them weren't the best you could say but I never hated them. I bought one a long time ago, back in the mid 90's and it wasn't bad but it was what it was, cheap. Thats the only knife I ever bought from them until last week. I saw a new 2011 Voyager clip piont and loved the blade shape so I ordered one. When I got it I was very pleased with how much they have improved their products since the last time I tried one. For the price I paid for it I think it is a really well made knife. I have used it some and really like how it cuts. So I guess to answer your question no I don't dislike Cold Steel.

I agree the videos are cheesy but I get a laugh out of them. I think as long as someone isn't duped into thinking any of their knives are the end-all be-all, than they make fantastic users.

If someone buys into all the marketing, that's when disappointment and bad feelings toward CS start, IMO. Either that or you just cannot stand Lynn Thompson.

Some of my first knives were CS loong time ago. No disappointments, but I haven't had any new experiences with them for over 20 yrs.

You're a chef right? You probably come in contact with lots of different knives on a daily basis. I think Cold Steel probably has their hits and misses like some production companies. I happened to buy one that was not impressive but I got what I paid for, a 15 dollar kukri. I have not based an opinion one way or another on the knife because I only have one offering to judge it by.

The belt sander resolved my issues with the knife and I have used it a few times hard and it has done just what I wanted it to.

My advice would be to try other models before branding the entire line bad. If my first Spyderco purchase had been the T-Mag, I wouldn't own 60 Spyderco knives.

I wouldn't call this a troll post, but it could have been more more felicitously worded. We really don't need anti-" threads, and when it comes to Cold Steel, they get boring after a while. Forgive me, but I've been here a long while, and I'm going to close this thread.

A better way to start a productive discussion would be perhaps "What do you think of Cold Steel?" which doesn't slant the discussion towards negative attitudes.
