Ive been making my own knives but want to learn to make Pipe Tomahawks.
I thought this might be the place but seems mostly just ol store bought stuff.

I have been making them for a while now and thanks to Ray Richard They are easier and turning out nicer then originally. He did a great job of showing how he does it and answering my questions at a hammerin' last fall.

When I first found this forum I thought it was just for hawk and axe forgers. I guess I was wrong.

Here is a couple recent ones I have forged.

If anyone is interested I put together a short tutorial on hawk forging. It is not as hard as you might think. If you can forge a basic blade then a hawk is no more dificult.

go ahead and do the tutorial!! I'm sure that a lot of us would like to see it..I am currently making hawks out of ball pein hammers but I would like to try a folded one soon..

This is the mini tutorial I did for a hawk-in-the-hat over on the Primal Fires forum. It is not the only way, just one of many, many ways to forge them. Onec you get one to turn out you kinda get hooked on them and start thinking about the next one.

When you start forging them you will find little variations that work better for you so use the tutorial as springboard to get the creative juices going.
