Would it be impractical to sharpen it flat to the stone like a flat scandi? Have there been auroras made with the larger lanyard tube like the scandi version has?

The handles all vary slightly, but end up being approximately the same thickness. It would take a fair amount of work to flatten out the convex grind. No, the large lanyard tube is new to the Aurora here.
