A cutout in the scales for a pair of swiss army tweezers?

Back in one of the older editions of Tactical knives there was a great layout on emerson customs, and in it were some interesting variations of the knives, especially a few with cutouts in the scales so that a set of Victorinox swiss army tweezers could be inserted. Another variations which I don't seem to see a lot here was checkering on the scales.

Just thought I'd throw that out.

More importantly, does anyone hve a picture of this ? I've never heard of it myself !

I remember reading about this option in Emerson's older catalog.

What issue of Tactical Knives is it featured in. Have to go back & look. Thanks

The only 6 I am aware of with the tweezers is Ernie's personal knife ( the bolsters have "ERE" on them, in case you come across it). I don't think it was offered as an option per se.

The very early knives did have checkering on the scales as an option, but I don't think anyone has ever needed it, as the micarta offers a good grip, wet or dry.

I have seen one CQC 6 w/ Checkered Scales.
The texture was pleasing to the touch and definetly afforded a excellent purchase.
Ernie made him the knife as a wedding gift
and it was a "HM" Logo as well.

I was not compelled however to EVER want that option on my Custom's and consequently have not pursued it.

The article in question is from the Spring 1996 issue of Tactical Knives. Here is a excerpt scan of the section of the article mentioning cutouts for SAK tweezers being available upon request.

You'll also note that the '6 pictured is engraved "E.R.E." on the bolster...

Yeedude, good work on finding the article. However, I got involved in reading the bits and pieces and wished I could have read the whole thing. Any chance of scanning the whole article? Thanks.

Yeedude,

Strong work, I never should have thrown out all of my old issues when I moved. That is a great article, IIRC.

So no one has one but Emerson himself?

Yeedude, its class acts like yourself that makes this Forum so special. Many thanks. Great article. Thanks for your effort.
