I was wondering if those who have one could give me their general impression of them. I just ordered two of them with engraving on the handles. I got one for myself and one to give to my boss at work as a gift. They semed like a good deal at $65 each engraved both sides and delivered.

Great, these are the 154CM also. The boss is a rancher and a hunter also, so I hope he likes it.

I like my 270 ok but its liner lock is super stiff and takes way too much pressure to unlock it. For that reason alone I hardly ever carry it. I've been tempted a number of times to get another one just to give it a fair shake.

The seller/engraver that I bought these from is incredable so far. I paid for them (PayPal) at 8:45 AM and they were done and shipped to me yesterday afternoon, insured and with a tracking number.

I have a 271 and I love it. I bought it when 154CM was scarce, so I have the ATS-34 version. I probably should have just put it in a drawer and kept it for that reason, but I decided to carry it instead. I'm not really a Buck fan at all, but I love that 271. I/v never had any problems with the liner lock either.

May I ask who is selling these knives,I would like to order one. also after reading these post I tried to loosen my liner lock and it helped out a lot, took a screw driver and pushed it back and forth a few times seems to make it easer to close. Thanks

The 271 is right up there on the "underrated" list, it's a great knife. I did have to wet-form the sheath a little before it fit properly. All I did was rub it with wet hands until it got damp, stuck the knife in and formed it around the knife with my fingers. Nothing to it and made a huge difference.

i have two of these..
in holding the knife tight the steel edge bothers me some on my cut up thumb..
i tryed to fatten it up with horse mat and that gave a grip that is ...
well real firm and sure! so it goes to bad lands with two 110's
the other has a gut hook and i have never used it ..
but if the money is there -> a cross bow during the next bow season may do it!

I've bought two of them. One the Dorado which was the BCCI club knife offered in 2006 with routed Buffalo horn and mirror polished throughout and 154CM blade. A honey knife.
The other was the 2004 model w/ ATS34 blade when they first came out. That one my wife carried and liked. She too said the liner is stiff and the choil design is a problem when cutting. But it cuts quick, is strong and small enough for the pocket.DM
