I've got one on the way and wouldn't mind getting some feedback.

Here is a pic:

Hi Dennis,

I've worn my black monster 24 hours a day for the last 6 months with few exceptions. I sleep with it, shower with it, work, school, fishing, hiking, you name it. It's nice having a watch that can take whatever you want to throw at it. If it gets muddy, scrub it with a toothbrush in the kitchen sink.

Mine came with the vented rubber strap, which I found uncomfortable, so I swapped it for a Rhino divestrap, and to me, the combo looks and feels great. No experience with the bracelet however.

This is a LARGE watch, so don't plan on wearing it with long sleeves.:D Despite the size and weight, it's comfortable to wear now that I'm used to it. At first it felt huge and I was banging it off the corners of desks and tables and walls, but it's none the worse for wear. The convex crystal really helps in this regard. Not a scratch on it despite the fact that it's taken a few knocks.

The lumination is good, when fully "charged" it glows brightly for hours. I've never been unable to read it in low light conditions although brightness does vary depending on the last exposure to a light source.

Mine runs consistently fast, maybe 10-15 seconds a day, but I adjust/correct it once a week and leave well enough alone. It keeps me punctual!:)

All things considered, I have no complaints.

If there is anything specific you'd like to know, feel free to ask!

Very cool watch! If you don't mind, who sells them and how much?

I got mine on ebay. For $119

There are a couple of ebay dealers that sell them.

Do a search for Seiko Diver. I got mine from watches 59. I've already got an email from UPS saying its on the way.

They also make an orange faced version.

www.chronograph.com also sells them, though expect to pay a little more than ebay prices.

*edited to add orange dial pic

Although I don't own one of them at the moment I'm quite fond of Seiko's 7S26 movement; as it is a nice technological altermative to the endless parade of ETA 2824s that you usually see in low-priced watches. One of the better "workhorse" movements out there. I personally tend to avoid them because they can't be manually wound, but I prefer manuals to autos anyway.

With that said, I really find the looks of the Black/Orange Monsters to be objectionable. It's just too cartoon macho for my tastes. Like wearing a Hummer H2 on your wrist. I'd be much more inclined to purchase a Seiko 5 or one of their more restrained Diver's automatics that offer the same functionality without all the chunky sharp things.

This is of course just a mater of personal taste, and those people I know who like the styling seem to love their watch. I have heard a few people say that sand gets trapped between the edge of the bezel and case and binds up the mechanism, but this seems to be rare.

Good Evening All-

Fishbulb, we're reading from the same sheet of music! These watches are of high-quality, but a selection of others from Seiko match the functionality in a much more versatile package. It all comes down to taste, but flexibility is always a good thing.

Visit with Bill Yao at MKII and you'll see some great things that can be done with the otherwise outstanding Seiko Automatic.

Got it! UPS dropped it off before 9:30 a.m.this morning. Not bad seeing as how the auction ended ay 9:55 p.m. on the 14th! And it was shipped from Singapore.

I agree that this is not the most versatile of watches. It isn't supposed to be. It is 100% tool watch. If I didn't already have several other watches, including a Yao Type I Seiko, I probably would not have bought it. If you are looking for a watch that can be dressy, casual, or anything in between this probably is not the watch for you.

I am impressed by initial fit and finish. The watch looks like it should cost more than $119 (I am not sure what suggested retail is). The bracelet is also very good quality. I really like it. The only thing I would immediately change is the crystal. I prefer sapphire.
