Does anyone have a Spyderco Captain w/ Papers?

As the title states, I am trying to track down someone who has a Captain that actually has papers. Seems like every one that I find doesn't have it, and everyone else that I ask doesn't have it either!! I feel like the box and papers are so important with such unique blades! My Rescue has one, but that Captain seems to be scarce.

Not 100% but I don't believe the captain came with any paperwork.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that's the case. Warranty information has been printed directly on the box for about 15 years, and it's only in the past couple years that "informational" pamphlets have become common for collaboration models and Sprints.

That is pretty well the conclusion that I have come to as far as the papers on it as well.

I think Rycen is right about that>> because I owned 4 of them all together including the one USER I had. I had two of them I bought new in the factory box from reputable dealers and neither one of them came with any special paperwork that I can remember>> and I would have remembered that.

It could be that a Real Genuine custom made Captain model made by Jason Breeden himself might come with paperwork of some sort.

That would make sense. This puts my mind at ease a bit. I was going crazy trying to find one with papers!

I have 2 of them and just checked and there are no papers in either one of them.! Didn't think there was but I had to check and make sure.**

Yeah Rycen I know is even a lot more privy to stuff like that than I am and I'm 99% sure he's right. I was a big fan of the Captain at one point and like I said I've owned 4 of them all together over the years and I never seen or heard of any special paperwork or authenticity certificates or anything of the like that came with a Captain model in the factory box.

It's my understanding that Jason Breeden ( the guy who designed the CAPTAIN) is a custom knife maker and I've heard he makes his own rendition Captain models on special order. I was told that by a friend who is really into custom made knives. And I bet that if you was to get one from the designer himself, a Jason Breeden custom made version that is I bet it would come with some type of paperwork or certificate of authenticity. I don't recall very many of Spyderco's knives that come with special paperwork>> there are a few but very few and I'm 99% certain that the Captain model never had any at all.

There has been a lot of Spyderco enthusiasts call for a Sprint Run of the Captain but I've never heard Spyderco commit to it at all or even show interest in doing a Sprint Run. And I doubt if they ever do>> it's my gut feeling that the Captain as specialized as a knife that it is probably wasn't one of their hot sellers during it's tenure. it's one of those Spyderco models that really didn't get popular until it was discontinued and you couldn't find one anymore. And that happens to a lot of Spyderco models.

Come to think of it I've never even had any of my Spyderco Sprint Runs ever come with any special paperwork at all. At least not with the ones I've bought over the years.
