Does anyone have any construction plans for a display case?

Possibly something that I could hang on a wall. Around 12 knives would be a good number. A locking door could be nice I suppose.

No construction plans here. I bought mine from Indian River. They have some great cases at great prices!!

Not really a wall display but I have turned my glass topped coffee table into a display. The glass panels lift out for access.

TheBadGuy, those are really cool looking! What are the dimensions of your cases? The price's on that site seem fine to me.

They are 18x24x 2 1/2. If had to do it over again, I would probably get them in 2" thickness instead as I had to add additional padding to keep them in place when hung on the wall

TBG, I didn't even notice that one. Haven't seen one before either. What year was that one available?

They just came out about 4 months ago or so. Best finish out of MT lately in my opinion. I will post a better picture this evening

:)

Hey BadGuy,

What is the knife you have displayed in the lower-left case...lowest-left corner? And do you have any close-ups of it?

I've just started getting into the kit-knife thing (good way to start the knife-making journey I figure?), and I had an idea like that a couple of months ago. I did some mock-ups on the computer using MS Paint and pics from KnifeKits.com to get a better idea of what it might look like.

Anyway, just wondering if you had any pics of a knife made out of the actual materials?

Thanks

Here is the Winston fixed blade. Its damascus bolsters/blade and fluted wood scales.

I think that if you have the skills to make the case it makes the selection of styles huge. How about doing a search for display cases of all types and do a New Yankee Workshop type project and just pick a classic style you like and knock it off in the wood and finish that appeals to you? Oil finished cherry--- Birds eye maple- Oh yaa
or simply oak from home depot

Hey! After seeing how organized TBG's collection is...maybe I can get motivated enough to finish the display cases I had made awhile ago. The top one is 3' x 18" x 5" deep and the other 2 are 5' x 18" x 5" deep. I have to mount the aluminum sliding door track (probably 1/4" plexiglas doors), cut a bunch of 1/8" dowels (for holding the knives), stain the 3 cases & dowels, drill holes & glue the dowels in place, mount the cases on the wall after I clean out and paint the walls of the room where they will reside and then get a lock for the sliding doors.;)
