i emailed justin but i think hes in iraq? i dont know for sure but i didnt get a response so i was wondering how much you guys payed for customized rd knives

Justin made me a custom bowie, which is the toughest knife I own. About 8" long with a 1/4" A2 blade. I posted the pics here a few months back. I will try to find them. All I can say is his work is top notch and he returns emails instantly. If you have not heard back from him, there is probably a good reason.

Keep in mind, the customs are not cheap and will run you a bit more than lets say a Bark River (about twice some of their knives). I am in no way comparing the knives just the cost. Actually, you may want to consider a Bark River. Great knife and a great company. I own a few of theirs as well. Mike is also a pleasure to work with.

Here it is---

Ya Justin sends emails back very quickly, did business with him awhile ago when I got my blue handled RD7. I asked about a price for an EXTRA thick rd7 and I think he quoted around 400 dollars or so. Customs are pricey.

he's at blade show now but some big news has been posted! Ontario bought Ranger Knives!

I think you've seen the last of Justin's hand made customs, glad I got a few before the party ended. Ontario has purchased Ranger assets. I wish Justin the best, he is a great guy and fabulous to do business with, but it's a sad day for me:(

If they purchased Ranger assets, any chance Justin could just spin off and start his own thing again?

U found it! took a few huh ;)

bmb, Ranger prices were/are very reasonable, think custom work done for
production costs. Of course it varied on what you had done and with what
but it was/is a great deal.

Justin's probably in Atlanta at the Blade show. His forum mentioned goodies going there.

I have a custom RD-9 variant (extended finger guard and S7 steel because I'm clumsy) and had an RD-3.75 (xaman's design). Great stuff at great prices and Justin's very customer-oriented (which makes me sad that Kershaw or Spyderco didn't buy up Ranger Knives).

I've have a few, (and have one on order, he's NOT discontinuing customs, for me anyway, and I doubt I'm special :p ) it just depends on what size and materials used. I've been quoted anywhere from 90.00-400.00.
