does anyone have experinse with bark river compound

I use it regularly with all the knives I use and/or carry.

Black first, followed by green. If you get the stropping kit from KSF, follow the directions exactly. You need less compound than you might think, and you should strop VERY lightly.

Like someone recently said, when you strop, it should be like you are trying to remove a tiny piece of lint from the hood of a shiny new black Corvette!

agree with grandpa

i use it with great results

black first
then the green

i just got the compound and it works awsome i used right after my norton 1000/8000 grit water stone the stroped with the compound and it put a razor sharp edge that can hair whittle

as to how it compares to run of the mill compound.....

I thought I would save some money and bought a big stick of the black stuff from a local store and it didn't do squat!

I used it on a buffer (I always used the BRKT stuff on leather) and I couldn't make any positive difference on a knife. Finally I broke out the BRKT stuff and immediately I saw a HUGE difference.

I am sure there is other stuff out there that works, but the Bark River stuff works. Period.

It looks a lot like the stuff handamarican.com use to sell. The black compound was boron carbide @ 1.8 microns and the green chromium oxide was .5. It worked really well but I have recently switched to diamond paste because of the hard steels that I frequently sharpen.
