Does anyone have information about this old trappers knife?

Unless you can see any maker's marks or other identifiers on the blades, I would speculate they are just relatively crude homemade knives. I don't mean that in a derogatory way - they obviously served a purpose and look like they have been well used.

How/where did you come across them?

I got them at an auction in perry hall maryland. There are hide scrapers so I'm assuming it was used by an early American trapper who had the time to decorate the knives.
Thank you for your thoughts

I think John has the right of it, the decoration of sheath and blade look African to me. The handles do have me a bit confused, they seem singularly bad in terms of using them. Tourist piece maybe?

How big are they because they are built like brush knives, the marks on the blade cause them to look like a display, and the antlers don't look like they were ment to be on them so someone probably didn't like the old handles.

Also from what I can see on the sides were it reaches the handle you can see the antlers so upon any real use the blade will just snap

Another thing is it looks like a blade attached to a metal ring so it is most likely welded and in a time period that that would be considered old I don't believe they had welding. These are just the things I see that make me think it is just a decoration by all means I'm not an expert and maybe an expert will come along and prove me wrong.
