Does anyone have RAT and RC photos showing side by side?

No issue bro.

I have been able to hold the Ontario Products, and since I have that point of reference, I will be able to see the changes made.

My brother wants me to give him my opinion of the new knives, he has the RTAKII and is thinking of purchasing some RC stuff.

Nearly what you requested, MDP
L to right RC-6, RC-4, Izula, RC-4, Rat 7, Rat 5, D2 Rat 7.
I took the photo to celebrate reaching a majority of 'real' Rats. :D

Petros - Not to be disloyal, but since you have an Ontario Rat7 D2, what do you think about the handle? I bought an RC-6 and think its Micarta is fantastic but would like to hear from a user about the other.

I'd be interested in seeing a RAT-3 and an RC-3 side by side. I've been thinking about picking up an RC-3, but I honestly can't find anything wrong with my D2 RAT-3.

the camera angle distorts the knife sizes a little. The Rat 7 handle and the RC-6 handle are the same dimensions, but the overall quality of fit and finish of the latter is in a whole different league. If I could only have one knife out of my current line up, it would be the RC-6, the balance is perfect, it suits my larger hand, and it's just so well made.

Although most of us don't like what Ontario tried/is trying with the RAT guys, the knives aren't bad. Other than heat treat problems some of the RAT-7s and RTAKs had, they were the top of this market until RAT Cutlery got started. If you like your RAT-3 then keep using it.

What you'd find with the RC-3 is a larger handle, possibly better fit (although that is spotty, because the fit on my RAT-7 is perfect, but Ontario can be hit and miss on that), and a much more durable finish.

Is it worth the difference to replace it? Only you can say on that one.

Like the 3s side by side, with a 4, and maybe an Izula?

And the RAT 7 next to the RC 6.

Thanks,
Marion

If you do a google search for "RAT 3 vs RC 3", you'll come up with an older thread from the "other knife forum" that shows a comparison between those 2 blades. Don't know what to tell you as far as the other blades you mention.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I really appreciate it.

You answered one of my questions with the link to the photos of the 3s. I held a RAT 3 and it was just not long enough, but it looks like the RC 3 has solved that to some degree. Is the RC 4 handle longer yet, or the same as the RC 3?

And my other interest was the 7 vs the 6, and I think I heard the answer, that they are almost identical in profile.

My brother has been considering getting a RC 3 and I think I will suggest he do so, I like the new knives in general from what I have seen, but the handle on the RAT 3 was a bit too short.

Thanks again for the input, and if you have any other thoughts, I would love to read them.

Marion

The RC-3 and Rc-4 have the exact same handle length. The only difference is the circumference on account of the blade width sandwiched in between the slabs.
