does anyone have the kabar d2 extreme f/u and what do you think of it?

I don't have one, but I seem to recall someone on these boards posting quite sometime ago that they were disappointed with the fit and finish for the price, but that otherwise it was a fine knife (albeit a pain to sharpen).

I'm not found of KA-BAR's, thus far they have shown negative sides in extensive field usage, got many friends using them. Some models are better (and some worse) than others, of course, but I wouldn't recommend a fixed-blade KA-BAR. Got no experience of the folders.

I did carry a ontario f/u for 8 years in the AF (6 months in Desert Shield/Storm) and I must say it never disappointed me at any time. I also had one of the kabars and it was not any different. They do what they are supposed too!!

I have two of the Kabar Extreme folders in D2 and both of them take a good edge and hold it very well. Some people seem to have a problem sharpening them. I don't understand this because D2, to me, is one of the easiest of the stainless or semi-stainless to sharpen.

Well, for the rest of us, it's fighting/utility...
for the likes of Gris, who's got his head sooo far up his anus, it's what you were thinking of...

Goat,
it is what MelancholyMutt says, "fighting utility". It also has a NSN (national stock number) so that any (U.S.) branch of service can purchase this knife.
