Do any of you guys go out and mess with the crowds on black friday? I used to go out, but every year it seems I get less and less motivated. That and I just hate crowds of people early in the morning.

And hopefully this isn't crossing the border on the Community Center rules, but are there normally knife places that run specials on black friday?

One year I went out the morning after black friday and was in line at target and overheard some woman complaining about how her 5 year old child was shoved out of the way on black friday as she used the child to pin down an item she wanted... Thats the type of people who get into black friday. just search online black friday and get the same deals.

My sister loves it. She and her daughter get up at like 2:00AM to get ready to go. And this is in VT where it is not quite the zoo that other places are because there just aren't that many people.

Every Friday part of my job is to take magazines and poster's we've printed and display them at two kiosks, each in a separate mall. This is the only time I'm in a retail outlet on Black Friday, and I hate it. It's the worst work day of the year.

Absolutly not! I don't want to have to kill anybody to save some cash on Christmas crap. Most of it is crap. We buy and give useless junk that someone may want or use. A genuine gift is a more thought out experience, very different from the feeding frenzy at the mall.

I worked retail for several years, and at the Walmart I worked at, the first Black Friday I was witness to began very early for us. The store was a 24hr Walmart, and people were standing in the aisles, with their hands on displays that were covered with small tarps. I'll never forget watching two little old ladies fight with their handbags over toaster ovens. I was bending over to pick up some shrinkwrap off of a pallet, and a single dvd player was on the pallet. I did not have my blue vest on that was customary at that time, and a customer must have thought I was another shopper, because he swooped down and got the dvd player. The second year was spent outside, loading electronics into cars from the trailers outside.

Now, coming into an office job after Thanksgiving, if I drive past the mall, it is wild to see the people camped outside of the mall, Best Buy etc.

I can't stand it, won't do it, but did pick up a $150.00 art set for about $50 for my baby sister a couple years ago, on Black Friday. It was in the afternoon though.

That's what I've been doing the past couple of years. Much easier and in my opinion more fun.

Yeah, I used to work in retail as well. I only worked out on the floor one year and that was enough. It's a completely different perspective on the other side.

Still trying to get into the holiday spirit. I get in the holiday spirit about a week before Christmas, and then it's all over. I think seeing Christmas decorations go up a couple weeks before Halloween can take it out of you ;).

Do I wake up at 3am and drive to stand in line at a store for a sale? Hell no. Never have, never will.

Will I turn on my computer and buy something from Neweggs black friday sale, probably.

I do my black friday shopping from the comfort of my computer room. There are definately good deals to be had out there.

Yeah, that. I went, once, to Best Buy. It sucked. I'm not a huge "big crowd" kind of guy and this was a whole new league. Parking lots were a mess of just trash, pizza boxes, cans, chairs, tents. I made it through a very long line and ended up with a good deal on a 32 inch TV. Once I finally made it back home, I realized (after checking the website) I could have ordered the same deal, online, no crowds or tents.

Never again.

In general we don't have that foolishness here.

The retailers would love to start that, so you hear about it now and again, but it hasn't caught on.

nope. won't do it. Wouldn't be right. Wouldn't be prudent.

No Black Friday campouts for me. I guess I never felt the urgency to go through the trouble of fighting through the mobs.

Yep. I want to build a new PC soon and was considering waiting for the sales, but I don't imagine the sales on what I want.

Unless I need a big ticket item in electronics I won't even leave the house that day. Too many crazies out.

Don't need to. Already finished my Christmas shopping. As for the deals, I'll just sit here with a cup of hot coffee and use this great invention they call the internet.
