Does anyone here NOT use their knives?

I *love* knives. (Duh.)

But I never really have a need for them.

I just *VERY* rarely encounter situations in daily life that require a knife.

I often have a blade on me, and have a Tactical Strider GB preordered, and that will always be on me.

But I just never use my knives.

Maybe I'm living my life wrong? ;)

Anyone else?

I have knives that I don't use, but the ones that I carry, I use.

I am starting to order some very expensive bowies and these knives will not be used. They will also not be carried.

I couldn't imagine a day without using my knives. I mean, really basic things like opening packages, mail, bags, cutting loose string, cutting and peeling fruit, cleaning under my fingernails, whittling, and simply opening and closing the darn thing when I'm bored. Now and then, serious cutting is called for, and then that's where I appreciate the value of a good knife.

I can't remember the last time a day went by without me using my EDC at least once. I don't know how some people can live a normal life without a knife

I have three types. #1 Knives I use and use hard, opening boxes, whittling with my daughter at the park, etc (kershaw Vapor 2, Case trappers). #2 Knives that are under a display case that will never we used (Camillus OVB, vintage Case knives) and #3 Knives that I carry for show and would only used in a life or death case (MT 2 tone UT6, PT ivory/jazz Godfather). I, like the others, use mine every day. Generally for mundane things such as opening letters, cutting strings, opening boxes and playing with it while waiting for my computer to print out a report. Remember, it has been said that the knife is the most basic and universal of all tools. Most people will never use a knife to perform a spectacular rescue or to fend off an assailant but those same people will be hard pressed to get through a day without encountering the need for a knife.

1) Go Camping.
2) Buy more knives and use your previous purchases to open their boxes.

Most of my knives end up opening things, i tend to carry more hevy duty knives than i need in case i need to do some serious work, Use them it's more than half the fun. I have used every knife in my modest collection, from my LCC D/A to my Busse BM.

I feel your pain. I own and carry some really great knives but rarely get to use them for more than opening envelopes and cutting tape.

I don't use my Spyderco Police or Cold Steel Vaquero Grande, and I hope I never do, as those are reserved for the role of my "defensive/offensive" folders...Should the need ever arise.

I carry a SS PE Spyderco Delica as my EDC "user" knife.

is a Case Bowie that was my Grandpa's. It's 25+ years old and in almost mint condition. I use all the others.

I use mine every single day for at least one thing, usually several. I just got finished using my Delta Z Osprey to cut lengths of 550 cord for a project I was working on, and two days ago it really saved me some grief when I used it to put some of my tactical gear back together so I could turn it in on time. I don't currently have any knives that I don't use or haven't used, and I doubt that I'll ever get any safe queens. They become more valuable to me with a few wear marks on them.

They do what we did oh so long ago: spend ahelluva lot of time looking for scissors!;) Sometimes they even make an extra trip to the kitchen.

Good Evening All-

Yep, use my EDC knives each day:
  • Slit open mail.
  • Cut stray threads from garments.
  • Slice interesting articles from newspaper during commute
  • Cut strapping on boxes of printer-paper at work while laughing as fellow white-collar, sheeple-workers struggle with keys, rulers, or bare hands because a 2.75" is barbaric to them.
