I want to pocket carry a small fixed blade in Washington state, but I cannot find any definitive laws. Does anyone know for sure and have proof one way or another? Thank you much, guys.

Whoa! Such an overwhelming response! I don't know if I can get through all of these!

I posted on this a while back, which you can read here.

Despite the vagueness, there is precious little case law to go on. State v. Myles 1995 did rule that a paring knife carried concealed is in violation of this statute, though Myles did provoke her interaction with police because of her harassing conduct.

You're post was up for less than 2 hours, so I was initially confused why you felt the need to post this. But suffice it to say this sub-forum is not as active as the other parts of the site. Lots of people love knives, but I find not many people know much about law.

Thanks for the info.
I was just having a bit of a joke, mate. Sorry you seem offended.

I am suing to have some of the anti-knife restriction laws overturned.

Cities sometimes have their own laws and there is the rcw on dangerous weapons, rcw 9.41.250

The question is whether you wish to now the city law of your place or the state law. Per rcw 9.41.250 it appears to me that you can openly carry the fixed blade but not concealed carry.

It appears that the problem with knives and the state law is that you are forbidden to own or possess a switchblade knife and you cannot carry your fixed blade knife in a backpack or the glove compartment of your car.

Would you or anyone else wish to aid me in my suit against the city of Seattle and the state?

thanks!
