I bought a Schrade Clip Hanger It is new in the box USA made with a 4.5 serrated blade for 12.99 from one of the retaiers. Of course I got ripped on the shipping. Does anyone know anything about it good or bad?

I had a similar knife called the "Cliphanger" and it was decent for work but didn't hold up as well as my other Schrades. The blade had side to side play and the serrations dulled easily with using it for opening and cutting boxes. I'm not sold on serrated knives.

I have a couple
I like them becuase they are lightweight
And the have a CLIP I can HANG on a back pack , for example

They don't seem like TOP quality
For the price they are a good deal
I think I paid under 10 bucks each for mine
And they are SCHRADE's ;)
Gotta get em' now!!
While you can!!! :cool::eek:

I got a bit on the clip hangers. They were a highly advertised item when 1st sold because the clip could be switched side to side was a new thing.
Let me see what I can dig up..

Starting in 11/94 a patent was applied for for the clip hanger knife system The detachable clip and a sheath were part of the patent.
Seems our own Phil Gibbs of Camillus and Dave Swinden and others at Schrade were filing a lot of patents during the late 80's and into the 90's.
There were monthly meetings discussing the design of the knife and its display until in 3/95 4 orders were entered. I'll dig up the production numbers too.
The CH7S 96,000 the CH3S 48,000 CH7SCHP (clam pack) 24,000 and the CH3SCHP 12,000. along with an order for the unique counter display was quite and order.
Later tonight I'll create a section on the web site complete with the detail plans for both knives. The CH7 was retailed at 39.95 and the CH3 at 29.95
