Does anyone know any of the knifeworks folks?

I just checked their website and saw that the owner took everyone on a cruise and it experienced mechanical probblems. Were they on that cruise ship that was just towed into port in Alabama?

If for any reason this should be deleted, go ahead. I am just mildly curious and slightly amused (feel bad for them, just amused by the "no good deed goes unpunished" idea). If it was that boat I hope they didn't suffer too bad.

I saw thread here on the boards somewhere a couple of days ago that said Roger and the rest of his people were on the stranded cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico. I assume that's the one that just got towed in.

It was not fun. You are welcome to post about it though. They have a lot of friends around here. :)

Here's what they posted on their website:

We will be closed Feb. 7th – 11th, and resume regular business hours on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Roger has rewarded all the employees of Knifeworks, for all their hard work and dedication in 2012, with a company cruise. All orders placed during this time will be processed and will start shipping on Feb. 12th. We appreciate your business and understanding!

*******THE CRUISE SHIP WE WERE ON HAS HAD SOME MECHANICAL PROBLEMS, WE WILL NOT BE BACK INTO THE STATES UNTIL LATER THIS WEEK.********
SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED YOU, PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH US!

We are back now, after being stuck in the ocean for 5 day after the ship engine caught on fire on the Carnival Triumph, It has been a long journey back after be tow in to the states for over 300 miles by Tug Boat, we will be resting up and will be back Sunday morning processing orders, the Phone Lines will be back up on Monday at 8:00 am as we need time Sunday to try to get as many orders as we can out Monday.

Talk about no good deed going unpunished---the guy springs for a reward cruise and they end up on the SS Tidy Bowl! I suppose with the passage of time it will be a great story for the office Christmas party, but I doubt they are laughing at the moment.

I am going to give them a week or so to wash up () rest up (:D) catch up () and then I'll hit my wish list and pick up a couple of Glad You're Back knives!

That sounds like a good plan. I'm finally going to pick up a Benchmade Contego. :)

The whole reason I checked is because I had an order in with them I am looking forward to getting. That said I would have absolutely no problem if they wanted to rest up, use some functional porcelain, and do whatever they wanted for a couple few more days.
