This was carried by my wife's Grandpa for many, many years. I was trying to figure out some info on it and maybe date it? Any help out there would be Great. On the blade there is a number "7374" that is very faint. Above the number there is something written also, but I cannot make it out? Thanks!

It's a variant of the stockman pattern with a punch. Sometimes I've seen them refered to as a rancher. It's a very good edc pocket knife. I'd oil it up, touch up the blades and carry it. And use it carefully, after all, it is a family knife. Don't go taking any scotchbrite or other "clean up" stuff to it. It tells a story as it is. Be a real shame to polish it up.

I don't personally know anything about old Bokers but here's a link to a closed auction on the same model that may provide some info. You may also want to google the pattern and see what you come up with while you wait.

I owned the same knife. It was Böker "Cattleman´s knife". It was chinese made. Unfortunately it was crap. After opening the knife about fiveteen or twenty times, there was a very heavy blade play. So I sent it back. The knifepattern wasn´t produced anymore, so I got my money back.
But your knife seemed to be a very older generation. Seems being no garbage, if it were it wouldn´t have become this age.

Hope you´ll enjoy that "cattleman´s knife". I couldn´t because of the heavy blade play.

Kind regards
Andi

BTW: Your knife seems is manufacutred in Solingen, so I think because of the tang stamp. It isn´t chinese made.

Good old german craftsmanship!! That´s really a hell of a knife. Take good care of it. Looking at the actual Böker program, this knife isn´t produced anymore. It´s really antique.

I would be happy about owning such a knife.

Kind regards
Andi

Man, I don't hink I've seen one of those Bokers where that shield DIDN'T fall out.

Anyway, nice heirloom. Oil it, sharpen it, and carry it!
