My brother gave me a big beautiful desk. It looks like something that belongs in the Oval Office. Friggin' thing must weigh 500 lbs. Unfortunately, he lost the keys so three of the six drawers are locked shut. I don't need them to lock I would just like them to open and close. What do I need (titanium bits?)and how do I do it? Any help would be much appreciated. Mods if this is in the wrong place I apologize. I wasn't sure where to ask. Thanks.

You could call a locksmith, or if you can manage to get one open somehow, take it to a locksmith shop and have him make you a few keys.

If it's as nice as you say, then the desk is easily worth it.

After messing with it for a while, I've managed to get five of the six drawers open without any drilling. All I found in the locked drawer was a half used up mini pad of paper. :( I think I can live with five of six drawers operable for now. Thanks folks.

That's great.

But just wait till the Oval Office finds who's got their desk, and you find out what's in that sixth drawer.

On the left side it is the middle drawer that won't open. I can pull out the top drawer and see that it is empty. :( If I felt like it I could keep stuff in there but it would be a pain to get at it. ;)

Now just take one of the opening drawers (the whole drawer) to a locksmith. In ten minutes and for about $25, you'll walk out with four keys. Perfect.

All you need to do is drill out the pins right thru the middle of em they will fall out of the cam turn with a screwdriver open . Then just get a new cylinder a small bit is all you need regular metal bits will work fine pins are made of brass in most old locks . If you want post a pic. of cylinder i probably have a new one .
