Does anyone know if Ka-Bar still makes folders?

My grandfather gave me an old Ka-Bar 1026 folder that he has carried for years to put in my collection when he found out I had started a collection of Schrades. He has carried that knife for as long as I can remember and even though it is slap worn out, I hated to see him give it up, but didn't have the heart to turn it down.

I would really like to get him another, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere and even heard that Ka-Bar was no longer making traditional folders. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks in advance!

Chuck

You're probably going to have to look on the net for those jacks.

You may also wish to post in the "Knives Wanted" section of this site. Never know what may turn up.

Kabar actually stopped making their own traditional slipjoints in the 1970's. For a number of years after that, Camillus made them on contract for Kabar. As far as I recall, Kabar discontinued their general line of slipjoints in the late 90's aftet the brand was acquired by Alcas.

There have been a large number of slipjointsd that were made on contractr for the Kabar collector's club by Queen, Camillus, and Case.
