Does anyone know Larry Pace

In November of last year I took an order from Larry Pace for a little hunter and sheath. About a month or so ago I phoned him and told him I would be starting his knife and to find out about any changes he might have. He offered to send a check but I declined and told him he could send it when it was done. When the knife was done I called him, several times, and sent E-mails but no response. It's been several weeks and I'm wondering if anyone on the forums knows him and if he's OK.

Thanks for your help

He doesn't have a lot of fans around here Mike!!! :foot:

At least you didn't send him the knife (I sure hope not anyway!!!)

BTW- This may sound a bit negative, but for makers, the ability to search someone's name on BF is a very handy tool. I like to see the good in people and give them the benefit of the doubt, but if you are unfamiliar with a potential customer, it doesn't hurt to do a quick search here. It could easily save a knife maker a lot of grief. :)

Hats off to Nick for finding this link containing a treasure trove of data on what appears (??haha??) to be a deadbeat.

Nick, thanks for the link. I'm gonna have to start using that search feature. I guess I wont hold my breath waiting for payment on the knife. Oh well, I've got the Eugene show in a week, an extra knife for the table.:)

I had a situation with that individual a couple of years ago. He contacted me to order a knife. I called him when I was ready to start the build...he said "go ahead". That was the last I ever heard from him. I completed the knife....called, and emailed with no responses. I held the knife for 30 days, and kept calling/emailing. At the end of 30 days I wrote him off as a deadbeat, put him on the "black list" and sold the knife to another client.
Although this is something not often spoke about....I think it's wise for a maker to maintain a "black list" of individuals who have proven to be dead beats. I have been doing so for a number of years, and if any of those individuals contact me wanting to order a knife, they must pay in full, up front, before I will even accept the order.

Hey Mike,
How about posting a photo of the knife so we can drool over it.
If it were me, I would hold on to it and if cleared payment plus a surcharge (25%+) for delinquency on his part arrives before the show he gets it. Otherwise I am sure there will be plenty of people in Eugene who will jump at the chance to own one of your knives. Just my 2 cents.

I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow. It's nothing fancy just a simple little hunter and sheath. That's what the man ordered.
