looking for a timeline of models and steels, i ran a google but came up empty. lets see how your knowledge of benchmades hallmark knife is.

I can't remember exactly when they came out. I had a first production run.....I think it was 2000-1?
ATS-34 was the steel.

The 710 is the 1st Axis lock done by Benchmade and I think it was 1998. They started with ATS 34 then 154cm and now D2. They also made some with M2HS I think. Hope this helps a little. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

Yes, the m2 steel ones were made concurrently with the ATS-34/154CM 710s for a couple years.

If memory serves, 154CM was dropped for D2 steel in 2006 (the M2 and ATS-34 versions had ceased production even before this change.)

There was also the recent limited edition (300 total) ones in CPM-M4.

Also, as far as I know, all models other than the ones in m4 were available with plain or 1/2 serrated blades.

The ATS-34/154CM and D2 ones were also available either with satin polished bare metal, or black coated blades.

The m2 and m4 series ones are all black-coated.

There is also 2 versions of the stainless steel liners. On the 1st run, the liners had squarish lightening cutouts as compared to the current round cutouts.

There's also the discontinued 705. It was the smaller version of the 710

710-02, 710-01,710HSSR, 710HS, 710-801, 710BKD2, and 710 in 154cm.

Great pic Rx...haven't I seen these before?? ;)
He's here, he's there, he's everywhere!
Why yes! you have, but aren't they so nice you just want to see them again and again? :) j/k

And a picture's worth a thousand words. :D

Also noticed that early 710s used to have plastic/fiber washers, while newer ones all seem to use bronze washers.

i have a 710 prototype and its dated '98 FWIW.

its also got black ano'd alloy handles vs G10, and the thumbstuds match the axis button.
