I just bought it at "that auction site":

The description noted that (and as can be seen in the small pictures), aside from being marked Camillus, the blade is stamped 2001. The overall length is 8 3/4 inches and the blade is 4 1/4 inches. The blade design looks similar to a Becker to me; I think I got a great deal, but I'm curious about just what it is.

Camillus made this model for Remington. Like many of their contract knives they produced the same knife with the Camillus name on it. The steel should be ATS34, Remington's designation was 18691 Drop Point Hunter. This will make a nice hunting knife.

Thank you very much for the info. I picked it up for about $30 -- I sure can't complain about that. I didn't have any idea about the type of steel, but the fitted sheath looked like it was pretty good quality.

These were made as a High Country Hunter series. There are 4 patterns. The 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
Cost about $40 new back in 90 to 95.

OK, I was trying to do this from memory, but it failed me... again.
There are five models of this.
2000 thru 2004, will post a picture, when I can get it uploaded.

The High Country Hunter knives were deisgned by Wallace Rockwell, who is a talented knife maker and designer.

Well said Tom!!

What's more, Wallace is now working for A.G. Russell Knives!

I have the Remington version of that knife; Pakkawood handle, ats-34, black leather sheath of a different design. Nice knife.
