Does anyone know what steel was used in the first Bushman knives?

If I recall, it was some kind of medium or high carbon American spring steel, possibly produced by Camillus. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks

I contacted CS and asked this question a while back and the answer was “they have always been SK5”.

Yes, that is true. Apparently, all of the leather sheathed Bushman were SK-5 made in Taiwan. At some point after Cold Steel changed sheaths to the nylon version, the Bushman started being made in China. I also wonder if this why some of the Bushman began to have heat treat problems?
