Does anyone know what this Gerber model was and the steel used?
It has no marks but Gerber on the blade. It is slim almost like a Leek
but it also has a thumb safety as well.

Can you guys help?

Thanks in advance,

Sorry A allenowen but your pics didn't load looks like. But if it looks like a Ken Onion leek then its a modern style knife and this section of Blade Forums is for traditionals. However doing a bit of googling I found a Gerber "fastball" that looks to be compared to the leek most often. The blade steel listed is M390.

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry about my pics.
Is there a certain way to upload them here?

Sorry about posting on the wrong forum. Which forum should I post this question to?

It does really look like a Leek but it says Gerber and the blade is satin finish.
The Fastball is close but not quite. What throws me is the thumb safety.

Brand new here and I'm trying to help the widow of my best friend of over 60 years
who recently passed from a blood clot/heart attack. Yes. He took the jab back in March and died in July.
I'm going to help her sell his knives and I want to be able to identify it correctly for any buyer.
He had over 250 knives and a few of them may be difficult to ID.

Big job.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, tough job ahead of you I imagine. If the knives are modern types (Spyderco, ZT, ect.)asking about them would be best in the general knife discussion section. If they are traditional slipjoints (Case, Old Timer GEC ect.) Then here is the proper place. With over 250 to go through I imagine there may be some of each. Allot people use a image hosting site such as imgur to post here.

Unless its a USA made Gerber model its probably complete garbage with the most budget steel like substance that company can outsource. If its an old Silver Knight or it might have some value to a collector (I think they were made in Japan but not sure) other than that and a handful of US models Gerber is a shadow of its former self and poorly regarded in the knife community.

Gerber recently made some attempts to release new exciting models but kept the crap mystery steel on almost all of them making them worthless. Even CRKT and SOG have been making more of an effort, its hard to understand how Gerber stays in business.

Thanks Again...

Sorry to hear about your friend. I am aware of several such episodes.

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Paste the picture address into the resulting popup. Then click the INSERT button.

Note: As a registered user, you may ask for help in identifying knives, but may not ask questions of value.

OK. Thanks for the information.

I just reposted with new photos ( I figured it out) on the general Forum.
Hopefully they can help.

I "think" it's an early Gerber STL 2.5 before they went with the cutout and scale change. As for steel, don't know but would be surprised if it wasn't a Chinese CRMOV steel in either case.
