I'd say Hammer Down Forge was a great guess. I mean, the combination of "HDF" under what looks like a mountain, I would have guessed the same as you. But when jaredw said Hammer Down said it wasn't theirs, I took another look.

Top pic below is your knife. The other two pics are taken from the Howling Dog Forge Facebook page. Like Bigburly says, if it's not them, then someone copied their logo. Seems like a pretty obscure brand to counterfeit. But if they said it isn't theirs, then it isn't theirs.
