I want to get a small Spyderco, is there anyone that has anything good or bad to say about the Blue Lava ?

Get one!
My wife got me one for my birthday; it's a great little knife.
Cute, ergonomic, and cuts what you need to.

Unfortunately my camera is busted, so no pics at the moment ( :( ), but it really is a great little knife.

I had a SS Lava and suspect that the blue G-10 would solve all the problems with the SS model - it was a slippery little knife. Very ergonomic and was great for cutting when I could get a grip on it.

I had never owned a Lava, but I picked up one of the sprint run models. Small knife, but has a good grip. All in all, I'm pleased with it. I would have to imagine that the original would indeed have been a little slippery.

I have a stainless one that I love, but I haven't picked up a blue one due to lack of playing around money. Otherwise, I would have had one already.

T Schloz,

I find that Spyderco's stainless handles were designed rather well, and don't really slip out of the hand as easily as folks would think. Especially the Lava. Once you have your hand wrapped around it, it's not going anywhere.

ShepardCC those 4 look great with the carbon fiber. I ordered a Lava with G-10 scales.

can you tell me what the 2nd from the top is called please? (in the pic up there ^)

The Lava is my favorite "little" knife. It's the only sub 2" bladed knife that I can get a full hand grip on for excellent control.

I didn't like the bright blue so I fixed mine:

Indeed.
It's my wife's main carry at work for a box cutter that doesn't freak out her co-workers. Just had to sharpen it again as it gets used on a regular basis. :)
The Lava just locks into the hand, whether the G-10 or the stainless handle version.

Sounds like a cool little knife, I should get it in the mail any day now. I see so much cardboard in my life that I now don't mind it any more. I've been slicing it up with some of my well sharpened knives that I've collected in the past few months.

I got one and love it way more than I thought I would. I was never crazy about SS version and was holding out for spyderco to offer it in G10. The liners are a little sharp but otherwise it is incredibly useful for its size.

Got the Lava in the mail today ! I'm glad I went for one, very cool knife. The G-10 is very rough but provided a great grip etc...
