Does anyone makes H1 steel knives beside Spyderco?

I lost my Spyderco Tasman salt while scuba diving :( and thinking about a replacement ... I loved the blade, it was better than anything I owned (I have a CRKT My tighe and a CS Recon tanto) but I hated the ergonomics, handle material and the fact that I couldnt adjust the pivot screws.

So I'm looking for another sharp blade that cannot rust but got better ergonomics than a Spyderco, does such thing exist?
(Assisted openers are a plus)

Ive got both spyderco H1 and Benchmade X15 and theyre both great. The x15 seems to last a little longer but after about 3 days of diving you'll get a couple of 3mm surface rust spots thatll you'll have to rub off with a rag or papertowel.

I never had a problem with the edge rusting.

The dive knife from Benchmade is the River Rescue, and last year, the steel was H1, though they have switched over to X15 TN, as ignoramus stated.

Boker also makes several models with X15 tn. Also they make a bunch of differnt models with ceramic and some kind of titainium that is supposed to be able to hold an edge.

You could get something made out of Titanium. Mission makes a boot knife (and several other models) you might be interested in. Also, for diving a Titanium hideaway might be a good choice (though expensive) You could mount it on your tank straps or other gear very easily and it wouldn't get in the way at all unless you needed it.

Ceramic is worthless for a dive knife. It is way too fragile and will chip or snap off easily.

Titanium would be good if it could hold a sharper edge. Mission's Ti may be the best of it, but it is very expensive. If you go for them, get serrated edges to help with cutting.

I got my hands on some Cronidur 30, which is a little similar to the X15, but it was difficult to get, and when I finally got some, it was in round bar. I don't know if X15 or H1 are any easier to find, but the average custom knife maker doesn't have access to it, if that happens to be the interest you have. For the custom knifemakers, Talonite and 420 are more commonly availble.

You might just be looking for a production knife, so this information is probably all useless to you.

I barely know how to sharpen correctly my knives so I can't really see myself making one ...

I'm not necessary looking for a dive knife, I'm looking for a EDC that doesn't rust and keep a good edge and the Spyderco Salt was better than my CRKT My tighe. Using it to dive would be a plus.

X15 Tn seems pretty good, but they're only made by benchmade correct?

Can you get a custom in X15 ?

maybe böker cera-titan..

I've never handled Cera-Titan but someone here recently said it isn't very good, either. I don't know about that. They do make kitchen knives out of it. Maybe it's somewhat as fragile as ceramic, but it's supposed to be a titanium matrix with ceramic inclusions. It doesn't seem to be a rugged, outdoor material. The Boker forum would be a good place to ask.

Tusa makes a H-1 dive knife. It's the Tusa FK-230. I picked one up a few weeks ago. It seems to be well made but has an unusual grind on the edge. It's non-symetrical, almost chisel like. It does shave the hair on my arm, so I guess it's reasonably sharp.

Benchmade 581 is made with M390 blade steel. I LOVE IT!!!

If you are after corrosion resistance, get something in ELMAX. It has great corrosion resistance, toughness, and sharpens easily with the right equipment.

Anyone one know if the h2o model grips sport the normal omega spring or is the spring material upgraded also for corrosion resistance?

G. Sakai makes some awesome knives in H1, but I think they're all fixed blades, didn't see any folders. I've been eyeing the orange wharncliffe one for a while now...
