Does Anyone Offer "Replacement" Acetal Handles?

I'm going to have a hawk head made, and want a super strong handle. Besides some of the native North American hardwoods and some exotics, acetal would be the ultimate handle material being that it is almost indestructible. Does anyone offer any standard sized handles, similiar to what CS offers in wood? Thanks.

If all else fails you can get some acetal from here

http://www.mscdirect.com/

I have worked with it before and it really isn't to hard to shape it up to fit the eye (depending on how the eye is shaped I should add). It is a doable project.

It really isn't hard to work with . This picture is really getting a workout but it is another prototype hatchet that I made and used acetal on. Mounting gets interesting unless it drops in from the top but can be used.

BTW, there are a lot cheaper places to get it than MMC. They will cure you of using much of it..price wise. Check some of the local plastics supply houses. I got this as a 4"X24"X1" Cutoff for $5.00 and it turned out the salesman uses it on his throwing Hawks.

Hey guys! I got an old piece of you know Lagana STYLE (not the real thing ...I think) But the head is shaped to acept a handle form the bottom like a hammer. Is there anyway to swell the acetal or wedge it or should I just regrind the inside of the head... Any help

You can heat up the handle and then force it into place. Something like a paint stripper heat gun or even a propane torch should work. Just try not to get it to hot. Just hot enough so the it will mold itself into place, not hot enough smoke and bubble. If you could find a test piece it would be worth while to get one and practice. Good luck
